This trail begins and ends near the Fajã de Lopo Vaz viewpoint, covering part of the Protected Area for the Management of Habitats or Species of the South and Southeast Coast.
The Fajã de Lopo Vaz, potentially one of the first inhabited places on the island, is also part of the Ponta da Rocha Alta and Fajã de Lopo Vaz geosite, consisting of two detrital formed by landslides and collapses from the tall adjacent cliffs.
